I still can't put pictures on my blog. I am getting very frustrated. I have been told to switch to wordpress. I have no idea how to do that. If anyone could help, I would greatly appreciate it.
Let's catch up with what has been going on.
Hattie is about to start first grade on Monday. Today she started running fever. I'm hoping she will be better on Monday. She is very ready. She believes she will learn to read this year, but not do anything with numbers. She said, "I already know numbers."
Hattie has been walking on everything she possibly can in the house and in my classroom. The floor is not the best place for her feet. To get from point A to point B she just walks over the pieces of furniture and on the back of the couch and on baskets and the top of the wooden stable. A few things have not held her weight. She also likes to turn a chair over and sit on it that way.
I really think Hattie is going to have my love for babies. She tries to hold all that she encounters. She loves on them and kisses on them. Even in the beginning when Lydda would scream at her and push her away, Hattie would tell her she loved her and give her a kiss. She secretly told Nannie that Lydda loved Emogene more than her. This broke my heart. Hattie never showed any sign of disappointment around Lydda. She worked hard to gain her love. Now they love to play together and Lydda likes Hattie to tote her around. Lydda gives Hattie kisses and loves. When Hattie cries, Lydda comes up and lays her head on her leg, just as Hattie would do for Lydda anytime she was hurt. It is so sweet.
We saw
Beezus and Ramona. Hattie does not think Josh Duhemel is cute. What is wrong with her?
Hattie is my little Ramona.
Emogene is about to start third grade. Emogene is super excited to have the first locker in her class. Her teacher does not do a number system so she put them in any order and Emogene is first. Talk about making her day. She really needed that since her two best friends are not coming to her school anymore. She loves her new teacher and gets to have her desk right next to the teacher's desk. I really think she is going to like this teacher more than me.
Emogene is still a wealth of knowledge when it comes to animals. It has just been multiplied because of the wildlife explorer binder she received in the mail yesterday. She has been watching and waiting for that thing for a month. She had finally convinced herself that it would not be coming. She has been studying the animal info cards all day. Just be prepared to hear random animal facts if she comes near you.
My favorite thing she said recently had to do with snakes. "To us, it is nasty when a boa gives birth. But to a boa, it is the most beautiful thing." She is so cute.
I took Emogene and Hattie to the dentist. Hattie had been complaining about a toothache and I was dreading the visit. I prayed many times for a good report. I truly believe that God erased those cavities while they slept, because they got an excellent report. Hattie had some molars coming in which caused the "toothaches." She is also taking her sweet time with loosing any teeth. The permanent teeth are not even showing up on the x-ray yet. Emogene's front tooth is very close to coming through.
Emogene starts soccer on Tuesday. I have a cute picture of her modeling her new practice outfit, but I can't show it to you. She is so excited. I can't wait to see her in action.
Lydda started in the daycare this week. She has a new teacher that is amazing. Mrs. A has the sweetest voice. As soon as Lydda arrives, Mrs. A sends someone to get her wubbie. Mrs. A lets Lydda carry it around all day to keep her happy. She also carries Lydda around the school while the other children hold onto a cute rope. She says that the rope just isn't for Lydda yet. She is going to start practicing with her next week. One daycare worker asked me why Lydda was unable to walk. I told her she walks very well, but she doesn't want to. Her little report I get each day says, "She likes to be held all day."
Lydda will start speech therapy soon. She says mama, hot, and ahhhh. I'm not sure if she will need other therapies. She does fall a lot though. Eric says she is a walking head injury. I have already gotten two accident reports from the daycare because she fell and had a new bump on her head.
She also has a boy that has become very fond of her. He tries to kiss her and won't let other boys come near her. It is very funny.
We went to see the ENT, and she did not recommend tubes. Lydda passed two hearing tests and hasn't had any ear infections. We are continuing to pray for wonderful news, and thanking God for all he has done.
Isabel is back with us. We are busy getting her ready to start college. I took her to get a driver's license only to be turned down again. This time her Visa was good, but I wasn't her legal guardian. Her mom happens to be in California, so she is flying here on Tuesday to take her to get a license and look for a car. That is definitely a good thing. I can't drive her to college everyday.
We spent the day together today, and I enjoyed visiting with her so much. I miss our times together. She helped me a lot in my classroom. I only embarrassed her a little, okay a lot, by approaching some ladies and giving them my business card. She's growing up, and I am so scared for her to go to college. I know the devil will try to attack her. I pray nightly for the Lord to put other Christians in her path to encourage her and keep her safe.
Well, we are back to a one dog family. Britta has been gone a week. Sheldon seems happy to get all of the attention. A lady from church was very eager to take her home. Britta is the perfect dog now, and I feel like a failure. I did have a little bit of glee when I heard she pooped inside her first night. It isn't all roses after all.
I have been working hard all summer on my Thirty-One business. Through God I have seen a lot of growth and feel very encouraged that this is what I am supposed to do. I will continue to work it while teaching. I will be worn out, but it will all be worth it if a little boy joins our family all because I took a leap of faith and started my own business. I am loving it!
Eric is still working two hours away and gets home very worn out, but still joyfully scoops up Lydda (if she is still awake) and plays with her. He gets a lot of time with his girls on the weekend while I work.
My best friend and her family are moving in September. The Lord has called them to help care for orphans and teach in South Africa. I am sad to see her go. I will be lost without her, but so many more people will be found because our friends are choosing to follow God's directions. Please pray for their safe journey and for their hearts. They are eager to begin a new life truly devoted to God, but they are leaving behind many loved ones. Please pray for a smooth transition for their children, Jake and Bella. Jake is supposed to marry Emogene one day. It will be a tough long distance relationship, but I am willing to make it work. You can see the hand of God in that child's actions and his voice. He has such a love and caring heart for others. He is ready to welcome many orphans into his home to be his brothers and sisters. Okay I am tearing up. I am going to miss them so much.
I'm going to have to go to bed now. I am getting sad. It is late, and I have to go share Thirty-One with many new people tomorrow morning.
I hope to get to post pictures soon.
