We were gifted a trip to Myrtle Beach for Easter break this year and we had the best time.
I have always told people I disliked the beach.
I don't know where that part of me went, but it is gone.
Emogene and Hattie spent most of the time in the water. They loved to go out so the water was to their necks. They would dive into the waves. I loved watching them, but was so nervous the whole time. Eric spent a lot of time out there with them, and I even went out about three times.
Eric thought it would be a good idea to grab me by the waist and pull me out further to show me it was ok. Not his greatest idea. I panicked. He quickly brought me back. I'm a bit of a chicken.
Lydda didn't have the best time the first full day. She played in the sand a little bit and looked for shells, but we had seen a couple of washed up jelly blobs and that made her afraid of the water.
We later talked to a local that said those were harmless and jellyfish don't show up until the water is warm. She did great after that. We bought them a boogie board and she went out with Eric many times to ride the waves.
Millie loved every bit of it. We didn't take her out into the deeper water. She was happy to play at the edge. She loved taking long walks along the beach with Eric. She also sat on the boogie board while Lydda, pulling her along the edge of the water.
Eric and I had the best time. Our condo had a screened in porch and we would sit out there drinking our coffee every morning. It was so relaxing. Even though I cleaned the condo like I had OCD, I really felt so relaxed. I wouldn't have been relaxed if it was messy.
I wanted to get pictures of me with my girls. I gathered all of them. I had to chase Millie because she turned around and ran for the water. She was a bit resistant. She was obviously fighting the grip I had on her arm when we finally made it back to our picture spot. She then gave the camera one look and wave and took off again. We laughed and laughed. I included a few pictures from our attempt.
We spent one day at the pool. This was for Lydda, because all though we have access to pools here, it was her vacation too and she really wanted to go to the pool instead of the beach. They had a lazy river which was the laziest ever. The other three kids played for a little while, but they then wanted to go back to the room. Eric got in the pool with Lydda. He is such a sweet daddy.
Our final night, we were getting some much needed sleep, and were woken up by security informing us that the unit above us was flooding and sure enough, water was pouring into our kitchen. We moved things around. They brought us extra towels. They gave us the option to switch rooms, but we didn't want to wake up all the kids, pack at midnight, and leave the next morning. We just stayed.
We were so sad to leave. It was a beautiful vacation that the girls will remember forever.
On our drive back, we stopped at Brookgreen Gardens. We spent 3 hours walking around and looking at sculptures. Everyone loved it. I highly recommend you go. They had a zoo too.
