Good Reads

I stayed up toooooo late, aggravated Eric by wanting to sleep late two days in a row and ignore the children.  I risked getting car sick, which is no fun.  I tried to ignore the children in the car.  I paid twice for them.  What am I talking about?  Two books written by Denise Grover Swank.  I read Here and Chosen over the Thanksgiving break.  It didn't take me long since I didn't want to put them down.  I ordered both books one night on my N**k.  I totally put in the wrong email account, and they got lost in cyberspace.  My sweet hubby ordered them correctly the second time.  Paying twice didn't bother me, because they were awesome!  I was hooked on her after reading her first book, Twenty-Eight and a Half Wishes.  So if you want to stay up late, drown out all of your children's voices, get very nauseous from reading in the car (not driving), and feel no regret, then read all of her books.  Love her!

Emogene's Birthday Party

 I surprised Emogene and her friends with a super deluxe sleepover in a hotel.  Here are a few pics from out night.

I had to stop at the post office.  They wanted to take a picture by the money.  I was very confused until I was informed that Hattie told them the boxes were full of money.

I enjoyed some quiet time relaxing by the pool. While they played in the hot tub.

One of the girls wanted to know why we put ice in the trash can.  They were so funny.

Sleep Much?

My Helper

Hattie was so helpful.  She brought in some of the groceries and when Lydda hollered that she needed to teetee, Hattie came to her rescue and even put up the toilet paper for me.  Now the kids are washing their hands and brushing their teeth in the bathtub.  I didn't want to squash her joy of helping by putting them under the cabinet.  I'm that kind of mom.

Christmas Came Early

Thirty-One rewarded me with a Cricut machine and CoolPix camera!

I can't wait to use it on a gift for Lydda. 

One camera hungry little 7 year old will be getting the camera for Christmas.  

Maybe she'll keep her grubby little fingers off of my camera/phone. Hahaha!

The Best Day Ever!

Emogene got "the run of the school!"  She got to run down the hallway as fast as she could while every class cheered for her.  She also got "Most Improved Bandman!" from her band teacher.  What a great day in the land of Emogene!

I was alerted on the playground by Emogene and her friend that Hattie was yelling at people 

and telling them she was digging her grave.  

Things were not as bad as she thought.  A little boy took her tree (branch she stuck in the ground) away for the second time.  To her, it was the end.  Good thing I arrived and smoothed it all over.

Puppy Love

Every time we go to Paw Paw's house, Lydda and Hattie find Uncle Tony's slippers.

Mustache Madness

We are getting ready for Valentine's Day over here.  

We have busted out the mustaches and are almost ready to make our cards.

Is that enough to tease you and wonder why we need mustaches for Valentines' Day?

The Pumpkin Patch

 I took my class to the pumpkin patch.  This meant that Hattie went too.

 She snuck a peek and smile at her mommy during the presentation.

 Her favorite part was the petting zoo.

 Then came the pumpkin choosing time. 

It took a little bit longer than I thought it would.

 Wait!  We have another winner.  Pumpkin #1 was not big enough.

 We HAD to take a picture with the big rooster.

I worry about her poses.

Garage Sale Find

 I found a metal tray for .50 at a garage sale.  

I saw it as a magnetic chalkboard.  I brought it home and spray painted it.  I want to use it in my kitchen, but my girls keep takin goff with it  

I t looks great in person.  Just wash things like this before painting them.  

I forgot and there is a glass ring from the previous owner visible through the paint. 

Emogene's Surprise

 We gave Emogene her birthday present.

 It was in such a lovely gift bag.

 She looked so thrilled.

 She was more than just a little excited.

She informed us that she thought we had gotten her shaving cream.

Mission accomplished!

Halloween

 

My little girls looked so cute.  

Emogene was such an awesome cat!  She loved her extra long tail.

Creepy Pictures

 I found some super creepy pictures on my iPad tonight.

Did I forget to mention that I earned the iPad from working hard last month?

My Little Pumpkins

The girls and I had a crafty moment today.  Emogene's teacher had done the craft with her class.  I also received one from a student.  I wanted to make them for our table.  Hattie and Lydda INSISTED on making one too.  So, being the awesome mom that I pretend to be, I let them make one.  Lydda is going to walk you through the craft.

Grab a roll of toilet paper.

 

 Place it in the middle of your fall colored fabric.  

Starting with one corner, fold it into the middle and stuff it into the hole.

Continue doing this until all of the fabric has been stuffed and no part of the roll is showing.

 Next gather green felt, a green pipe cleaner, and a brown paper bag.

 Fluff up the paper bag, and then twist it.  I then cut half of it off.

 Shove it into the hole of your pumpkin to create the stem.

 Curl the pipe cleaner to make a vine and cut out a leaf.

Stuff them into the hole as well. 

 Here is my little punkin with her pumpkin.

We added it to our pumpkin family.

They were easy to make and turned out super cute.

I will have to return the huge rolls to the school custodian.  He told me that I could keep them.  

I think he thinks I can't buy my own toilet paper and paper towels.  What a sweet man.
