A friend of mine introduced me to Chalk Couture. I was really interested, so I decided to try it out.
The first thing I did was make a chalkboard using part of the baby bed I pulled from my parents' attic.
Then I ordered some chalk paste. I chose dreamcicle.
I also ordered some wax. The wax is recommended if you use a chalkboard that isn't from them. It was about $13 (paste and wax). I then let it sit in a drawer until I had it in my budget to get a chalk transfer. The one I chose wasn't expensive. I spent $25 on the transfer including shipping and tax. That is a total of $38 spent and I can use everything again, many times.
Please excuse the lack of pictures for part of the process. I'll explain later.

I rubbed on the wax on the spot that I wanted the transfer.
I pulled off the backing and stuck on the transfer. This took me some time.
Tip: Try and get the bubbles out. I didn't give it my all and I paid for it later.
I then put about three small blobs of chalk paste on top. Chalk Couture sells a "squeegee" to help smear it evenly across. I used a tool from my Cricut machine.
Tip, if you let the paste sit in a drawer for six months, be sure to stir it really well. I didn't. That caused some of it to bleed out of the stencil to spots I didn't want it to.
Here is the finished product. I didn't take pics of the smearing because I wanted to hurry and pull it off and clean it because it isn't recommended to let the paste dry on the transfer, BECAUSE the transfer is REUSABLE!!! It remains sticky on the back so you can use it multiple times. I'm not sure how many times, but I am excited to change up the welcome for the different seasons and holidays. Also, just using water, you can remove the paste when you are ready to change your board. That is sooooo cool!
As you can see, the beginning of the word looks better than the end. The end was the blob of paste that wasn't stirred very well, so the consistency of the paste was off. It was too liquidy. I had to use a Qtip to correct the bleeding that occurred. It wasn't too difficult. The whole project took me about ten minutes from start to finish.
Since I've done this one, I know I can do a better one next time. I have my eye on a gigantic flower.
